Chapter 0 - Kriv + Derngu

Kriv gets up and walks with Derngu towards the dwarven brewer. He mutters to himself "So far, this day is proving to be really interesting"

"Me Brother!" Derngu shouts to the Dwarven Brewer he had dealings with earlier, "I will pay ye what me able fer two pints of yer good lager! We got's show th's beast what a brew is really like!"

(OOC: Derngu throws down 4 of his 6 silver for the beer)

The dwarf grins and picks up two of the coins. "Dun' pay me fer too much... I dinnae know if'n he can handle it!" he lets out a hearty laugh and opens the tap on a keg, the valve stylized in a depiction of Moradin's hammer. The thick, dark, foamy brew fills the mugs till they overflow. Most people would consider spiling fine ale on the ground a sign of disrespect. "Gotta give me cousins a taste, no?" he smiles, closing the tap with a light kick to the valve and setting the mugs on the table in front of him. "Drink up Laddies, I need ta drain three kegs a day or it'll sour!" he jests, his deep chuckle echoing through the square again.

"Tha's the spirit, me brother! Ye must give'a tad ta th' earth - hearty stuff 'tis. Ye know a dwarf can drink, but me coin is me issue!" Derngu replies as he takes a deep swig of the ale.

Kriv picks up his mug and looks at the contents. He then shrugs and downs half the mug in one go. Immediatly after Kriv starts to cough. "Wow, that is some mighty fine ale you have, good dwarf" Kriv then finishes the rest and tries to not cough again.

He laughs again. "Thank ye. I dun' see many drink that much unless they've been raised by dwarves... and even then, without Dwarven blood, that'll eat ye from inside!" he slaps his knee cheerily. "So tell me, what brings ye here, Drake?"

"I have a strong stomach. I'll manage" Kriv laughs "I stumbled upon this town actually, i was in the military for a couple years. I then decided I wanted to travel around to further my knowledge and find some excitement. I sure as hell found excitement here so far" Kriv laughs again.

"Ach, tis is damn near the only time it's ever exciting around here. Me guess is that everyone ook the name Truce a wee bit seriously. But no matter, a few mugs of ale will solve just about any problem. 'cept those caused by a few mugs of ale. Then ye need whiskey." he says with a wink.

With a chuckle, Derngu replies "Good hum'r ta ye too. Me wish's prayers on ye be Moradin's Hammer. 'Nother brew, then me th'nks I see some good fightin' an' entertainment 'ere. Anythin' ye might sug'est Brother?"

"Eh, the wrestlin's always fun. Them humans is too top-heavy!" he says, bending his knees and becoming, essentially, a cube. "I prefer to watch from'ere though. When I was younger I had me a good time competing... but I only fight with yeast and hops these days."

"Could be a good sport, I agree with ye on them top 'eavy 'umans! Kriv 'ere would go down nice an' easy." Derngu winks at Kriv. "Per'aps any good ol' fight'n rings be th'er empty, aye? 'Bout any games I could win a coin at, me runnin' low."

Kriv looks down at Derngu "Is that a challenge?" he says jokingly

"Aye, it be. If we ta be fight'n t'gether, me like ta see what ye can handle. Be ye up fer a round in the wrestle, and a round in the swords?" Derngu questions light heartedly.

"Absolutly, I want to see if an old man like you can keep up" Kriv says with a chuckle

Dergu finishes his ale, then leads Kriv towards the rings, and looks for the ring master.

"Afternoon! Looking for a bit of a brawl?" asks what appears to be a bald, scarred bear. On further inspection, it's actually a person. "No tourney's going on yet, fights are one silver for five minutes."

"Aye lad, I can do. Any winnings? An' 'nother question... can me an mine have a bit' o' th' ring?" Derngu replies.

"No winnings 'till the tourneys start. 'till then, just a clean safe place to fight. And you can't forget spectators. You can punch some shit in the face in a back alley, sure, but here... the cheer of the crowd! That's life!"

"'Meant winners of previous days, but aye, could be fun! When 'dtha tournies start? Got me interested. A dwarf could go fer a good brawl after a few brew!"

"Not for a few days. They like the matches to be a bit of a finale to the festival." he says, almost sadly. "I wish they'd go on year round, myself."

Kriv looks at the ringmaster "So, can we or can we not spar?"

"Well, have you, or have you not, a coin?" he raises an eyebrow.

"Yes i do" Kriv reaches for his belt pouch and takes out 1sp

"Alright Derngu, you ready?"

Derngu and Kriv step into the ring at opposite ends. As the ring leader counts to three, (RP'd OOC) the two men move towards eachother. Grapples and holds fly from each, and after a good wrestle, Derngu pins Kriv. Kriv admits defeat, and the two men get back on their feet and shake hands.

"Good match, ye beast. The ol' dwarf be right, height don' make a winner! Ye too top-'eavy, ye are! I be proud ta fight beside ye though, ye seems like ye got'ya some p'tential, I th'nk."

Derngu moves back towards the ring leader. "Good fight, eh? Per'aps I be back ta take ye boys too?"
The dwarf then re-arms himself with his axe, and dawns his ever-watching armor.
"Me brothers, me father, Moradin watch over me." Derngu says to himself, as a silent but audible prayer.
