Chapter 0 - Keeran

A beautiful day, the plants and animals are simply singing. It's enough to make you almost forget that it's dangerous out here. Almost. And thank goodness for that. A quick picnic for lunch finds you barely alert enough to hear someone sneaking up on you. A snapped twig, a faint cough. At least three people, you would estimate.

I become very alert at the surprising presence immediatly. I do a perception check.

You notice four men walking up behind you. Before you even have time to get up, they surround you. One sits in front of you and picks up the bread you'd dropped, tearing off a small piece and eating it, handing the rest back to you. "Go on, eat. We're not gonna hurt you. Well... not immediately." he grins. His unkempt, fire-red hair cascades over his shoulders and eyes, making his predatory grin all the more feral.

Wondering what the hell is going on and who these people are and what they want from me, I then decide to do an insight check.

The man is clearly playing a game of cat and mouse with you.

"So... how are you?" he asks, sarcastically cheery.

I reply "I don't know. Who are you?"

"Oh, how rude of me! My name's John. John Smith." he says mockingly. "And what's your name? Tell me the real one and you get to know mine."

I reply "My real name is Keeran. Now it's your turn..."

"Fascinating." he says with a smile. "So, what are you doing today, all alone? Wandering? With nobody to guard you from bandits?"

I reply "No name then? And I'm traveling, I can take care of myself.."

"Alright, fine, my name is Khyriin. And no, I'm not making that one up. The resemblance is purely coincidental."

I reply "Aye, so what brings you to this area and what can I help you with?"

"You do. I'm here to offer you a job. And by offer, I mean if you decline I get to play cat and mouse. Want to hear more?" he asks with a cruel grin.

I nod slightly and takes one step forward towards the man I am talking too. I look deep into his eyes as to try to look through him. I say "I'm listening."
